By installing or using Pénombre, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use the app.

Pénombre is an end-to-end encrypted messaging app with no central account system. Your identity is generated and kept locally on your device; we have no access to the content of your conversations.

You are solely responsible for keeping your recovery phrase safe and for the physical security of your device. We cannot restore your identity or your conversations if you lose either one.

You agree to use Pénombre lawfully, and not to use it to harass, threaten, or harm others.

Pénombre is provided "as is," without warranty of any kind, express or implied. While the app is built with careful attention to security, no system is infallible.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, we cannot be held liable for the loss of data, conversations, or an identity resulting from a lost device, a forgotten recovery phrase, or any other event outside our direct control.

We may evolve, change, or discontinue features of Pénombre. We'll make reasonable efforts to let you know when a change is significant.
